Antipodean albatrossToroa

Conservation status
In serious trouble

Toroa spend most of their lives at sea, only coming on land to raise young every two years. They have an elaborate courtship that involves a lot of singing and dancing, and form mating pairs that (mostly) last until one of them dies.

The toroa is the party leader for albatross. It’s a big job representing all albatross in Aotearoa but this big, beautiful bird is up to the task!

We are a determined group of neurodivergent individuals set on making Toroa bird of the year and prove they are the best bird(as we have always known) and, WE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL WE HAVE WON!!!!
