A quintessential LBJ (little brown job), pīpipi are sweet songsters that live in the forest canopy. They're sociable wee birds, forming flocks of up to 60 birds. Anyone can join the pīpipi party: silvereyes, fantails, grey warblers and fantails are all known to hang out in the pīpipi flock. And if you're a long-tailed cuckoo, the pīpipi will even raise your chicks for you!

The Brown Creeper is a small (just 13cm in size!), noisy songbird.  Also known as Pipipi (said, pa pee pee), it is not a colourful bird but its beautiful brown colouring helps it to camouflage.  These clever little birds are often heard and not seen!  Endemic to New Zealand, they happily live in areas from the sea to treeline, found in the South Island.  Brown Creepers/Pipipi are team players, often foraging in groups of 3-12.  They are loyal and will usually stay with their mate for life, changing only if their mate dies.

This year our family are campaign managers for the Brown Creeper/Pipipi.  This gorgeous, loyal, team-player often gets lost among the better-known birds.  We believe the little Brown Creeper/Pipipi deserves your vote so that this small bird can have a big win.  Help us make the Brown Creeper/Pipipi well known throughout New Zealand!
