Bird Conservation is and always will be a core value of Metalbird, as we're determined to give back to the birds that continue to inspire us. For this very reason, Forest & Bird remains one of our most cherished sponsorships, helping us to engage with the birds of Aotearoa in new and exciting ways!
Since 2020 we've been collaborating with Forest & Bird, creating limited edition pieces and diverting 30% of the proceeds back to their crucial and tireless efforts. It is the collaborative element of working with Forest & Bird that we love the most, watching creativity and conservation collide to make something wholly original and meaningful.
Forest & Bird strives to give a voice to birds, and we're proud to add to that chorus, creating works of art that serve as lifelong declarations of love and support for the birds of Aotearoa. And we're just getting started.
This year’s Allbirds shoe is inspired by last year’s winner, the pekapeka-tou-roa long-tailed bat.
The Dasher Relays have been turned inside out, in celebration of the wee 2021 champ, who spends most of its life upside down. These limited-edition shoes have a one of a kind design, in honour of this much-loved mammal.
A portion of proceeds from each pair sold will be donated to Forest & Bird, to help them restore and protect Aotearoa New Zealand’s wildlife and wild places. Head to Allbirds online to get hold of a pair today.
In support of Forest & Bird NZ and their hotly anticipated avian election, Bird of the Year 2022, this limited-edition collaboration umbrella showcases the native pekapeka-tou-roa or long-tailed bat, New Zealand's 2021 Bird of the Year winner.
Designed by talented Kiwi artist Melissa Boardman, the stunning hand painted design features the long-tailed bat alongside the previous four winning birds, the Kea, Kererū, Hoiho and Kākāpō on a sky-coloured canopy.
Created with aroha, it is a beautiful representation of our native flora and fauna and is available online from the 20th of October.

The pīwakawaka is back for Bird of the Year 2022 and ready to tweet about important bird news!
'Hey it's that time of year again when that cute chubby green parrot gets a lot of limelight. But kākāpō is taking the year off and I am going to use my outstanding pīwakawaka social skills to champion the underbirds of our region (Wairarapa) on social media, at Thunderpants HQ and beyond!'
Every item covered with me, that's pīwakawaka, purchased during October will have a portion of the sales go to Forest & Bird.
